Reliance Foundation unveils Vantara: Anant Ambani’s animal rescue & care facility.

Reliance industries and Reliance foundation on Monday announced the launch of ‘Vantara’, an umbrella initiative aimed at rescuing, treating, caring and rehabilitating injured, abused and threatened animals, in India and abroad.Vantara, which is a Hindi word, means ‘star of the forest’. This program is dedicated to the rescue, treatment, care, and rehabilitation of animals in need.Reliance Foundation’s Vantara, India’s first-of-its-kind animal rescue and conservation programme in Gujarat’s Jamnagar.

What Will Vantara Offer?

The all-new animal conservation centre will have several infrastructures such as state-of-the-art healthcare, hospitals, research, and academic centres. Vantara will also collaborate with renowned animal protection organisations such as International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF).Over the past few years, the programme rescued more than 200 elephants and several reptiles and birds from being sold off and hunted. It has undertaken initiatives in key species including rhino, leopard, and crocodile rehabilitation. Vantara has also collaborated with international rescue centres in Mexico and Venezuela to rescue big, wild animals.

 

Special care for elephants in Vantara

The center uses Ayurvedic techniques for elephant care, ranging from soothing hot oil massages to the application of Multani Mitti. Ayurveda practitioners diligently work around the clock, ensuring comprehensive well-being for the elephants.

“We have built a nutrition lab and kitchen. We have created a jungle in 600 acre of land so that elephants can feel they are living in their natural habitat and they can feel that they live ..Anant Ambani Said.
